Da Vinci Porcelain Veeners |
Da Vinci veneers are porcelain veneer restorations made by a specific dental lab in California, da vinci Dental Studios. Porcelain veneers are used on the front teeth to mask discolorations, to brighten the teeth, and to improve the appearance of chipped or worn teeth. Da Vinci veneers are very thin shells of ceramic material (porcelain) bonded to the front of the teeth. To prepare the teeth, they are lightly buffed to allow for the small added thickness of the veneer. Usually, about half a millimeter of tooth is removed, which may require a local anaesthetic. Then, a mold is taken of the teeth, which is used by the lab for the fabrication of the veneers. The dentist may place a temporary veneer on the teeth until the new veneers are ready. To bond the new veneers, the dentist will place them with water or glycerine on the teeth to check their fit, shade and color. At this point, the color of the veneers can still be adjusted with the shade of cement to be used. The color cannot be altered after veneers are cemented. When the color is perfect, the dentist begins by cleaning the teeth with a special dental cleaner to achieve a lasting and permanent bond. Then special cements are sandwiched between the veneer and tooth, and a visible light beam is used to catalyze the hardening of the cement. Then the new smile is in place. |
